Home Theater Wiring
Wiring is one of the most overlooked yet most expensive aspects of home theater installation. Professional wiring can cost over $200 at most Canadian home theater suppliers, so save some money by doing it themselves. But this often results in costly mistakes—one wrong connection and your entire system will collapse. That’ why it’s best to invest in proper wiring, even if it means spending a couple hundred dollars.
Most Canadian home theater owners will just run their wires under the carpet, but that’s actually one of the worst wiring locations. People will be stepping over your wires on a regular basis, subjecting them to a lot of physical wear. Over time, this can affect your audio quality and ultimately present an electrical hazard.
Instead, run your wires along the walls and up to the sides of the ceiling. This will keep them out of the way while giving you quick access in case you need to do repairs. Use a tack or wire clips to keep them flat against the surface. If you want, you can also paint over the wires so they don’t clash against your walls. Wire clips and wiring wall plates can be bought at most Canadian home theater shops.
If you want to get rid of wiring altogether, you should get a wireless home theater system. Wireless systems cost more, but you won’t have to spend as much on installation and maintenance. Use a wireless system if you have a large room where wiring setup can be complicated.
