Home Theater Rooms
One thing that sets home theaters apart from regular home viewing is the use of a dedicated entertainment room. In a home theater, you want to block out outdoor lights, sounds, and anything that can disturb your home viewing experience. With a well-chosen home theater entertainment room, you can get the same quality and experience as a real cinema—only loads better.
Most Canadian home theater systems are located in the basement. This is because basement structures offer natural soundproofing and are usually the darkest room in the house. Windowless basements are ideal, but if you’ve got any openings, you can always close them up with heavy-duty drapes or boards. It’s important not to leave anything open because all the noise from the outside could come into your basement home theater.
It’s also important to soundproof your home theater to enhance sound quality, and so that people outside won’t have to hear your audio. You can find home theater acoustic wall covers at most hardware stores and some Canadian home theater departments. If you have the time, however, you may want to apply an acoustic wall treatment for a more permanent fix.
Finally, take note of your home theater room size and use it as a basis for buying your equipment. Not all Canadian home theater systems will work for every room. If you have a small room, for example, you may have trouble finding viewing angles for a large screen. Keep your equipment in proportion with your gear to ensure optimum viewing quality.
