Home Theater Package
Home theaters are pretty much the norm in North American households. But not everyone can afford a home theater—at least not a full-feature one like the ones you see on Canadian home theater magazines. If you want to build your dream home theater without breaking the bank, you can start with a home theater package.
A basic home theater system can cost as low as $300, whereas a full home theater can run you back several thousands. Of course, you can’t expect the same quality as high-end system, but it’s a start. You can always add new gear or replace the old ones later on. A budget of $500 to $1,000 will get you some quality equipment that won’t need replacing for at least one year.
A typical home theater package includes a midsize flat screen TV, a speaker set, and a DVD or multimedia player. Ideally they should all come from the same manufacturer, so you won’t have any compatibility problems. Some Canadian home theater dealers will also allow you to choose your own pieces, although this may cost a bit more.
Once you’ve picked your home theater set, you should also think about installation. Your Canadian home theater dealer may offer professional installation for an additional $100 or so, or sometimes even for free. This can be convenient if you don’t know much about home theater installation, as it helps you avoid common setup mistakes.
