Home Theater Calibration
Home theater calibration is one step we’d all rather skip—after all, you can always get your Canadian home theater specialist to set it up for you. But while that’s certainly convenient, it pays to learn a thing or two so you can do simple repairs without calling for help. Here are some home theater calibration tips to help you boost your system’s performance.
TV calibration
To improve image quality on your TV, find the contrast and color setting on your set and adjust it to suit your preferences. Use a large full-color image as your guide. People tend to overdo the contrast, so make sure you don’t exceed the contrast on the original image. Do this in a dimly lit room—Canadian home theater experts recommend dim lighting instead of total darkness to optimize video quality.
Audio calibration
This is a bit more complex than video, especially if you have multi-channel surround sound. Each model has its own audio calibration standard, so it’s best to consult your manual for the right settings. Once you’ve got it all set, test the speakers both individually and as a group. Test it with a video file to see whether the sound and image are played back simultaneously.
Receiver calibration
Most home theater receivers have automatic calibration, but it still helps to check for proper installation. If you’re not familiar with calibration settings, have it set up by your Canadian home theater dealer—it’ll help you avoid mistakes that are hard to correct later on.
