Build a Home Theater
Building a home theater is no easy task, even for some electronics professionals. That’s why it’s important to plan your home theater carefully, from wiring layout to home theater décor, before making your first purchase. If you’re putting together your first home theater system, here are some things worth keeping in mind.
Block out ambient light. The ideal home theater room is a medium-sized one with no windows or any opening through which light can come in. However, few Canadian home theater owners have a windowless room in their house. As an alternative, cover your windows with heavy-duty opaque curtains in a dark color, or cover it up completely with a thick board.
Pick an appropriate screen size. Bigger isn’t always better when it comes to home theater screens. The giant 60-inch screens you see in Canadian home theater galleries are usually located in large rooms with enough floor area to get a proper viewing distance. A 50-inch screen is usually enough for an average home theater; you can go bigger or smaller depending on your actual room size.
Invest in speakers. Your home theater speaker system is vital to your overall viewing experience. Ideally, around 30-40% of your budget should go into a high-quality speaker set that suits your viewing preferences. Proper speaker installation is also important; if you’re not familiar with the wiring, have your Canadian home theater supplier install it for you.
